Beksinski's depictions of death and decay are grotesque. If conveying that dark vision was his goal, he has succeeded in spades. It is sad and depressing to hear that he came to such a senseless end. Thanks for the image of his art as he was practically unknown here in the states.
I love Polish art. My father has quite a collection of polish artists, but Beksinski is not among them. I love his work. Funny, though, how I did not know he had been murdered! I need to really get more in the know.....

ReplyDeleteHis son - who was the first translator into Polish of Monty Python films!!! - killed himself a few years ago. Sad but brilliant familiy.
I had never heard of Beksinski before. Thanks for drawing him to my attention. I do like this painting very much.
