Obama lets Russia invade Poland!

The US religious rightwing is trying to scare the type of people who get scared about these things that a vote for Barrack Obama will result in pornography being shown 24/7 on TV, abortion will become just another form of contraception...and Poland will be invaded by Russia!

Yes, it’s true. Vote Obama, invade Poland! The prophecy comes from religious nut jobs Focus on the Family, founded in 1977 by James Dobson, who also runs a radio show which claims a syndicated audience, worldwide, of 220 million listeners.

Nuts, but popular. Popular nuts.

In a sixteen page open letter Dobson imagines what the US, and the world, would look like in 2012, four years after the election of Barrack Obama. Sex, drugs and rock n’ roll would take over the US. Porn would be as readily available on the television as ...well...religious nutjob broadcasting.

Internationally, an Obama presidency would be so weak and ineffectual at protecting democratic rights that, in 2009, says Dobson, Russia would move tanks into the Baltic States and retake areas lost to it on the break up of the Soviet Union. Three years later, more tanks would roll into Warsaw, Prague…

“In 2009, [Russia follows] the pattern they had began in Georgia in 2008 and sent troops to occupy and re-take several Eastern European countries, starting with Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Then in the next three years Russia occupied additional countries that had been previous Soviet satellite nations including Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria with no military response from the US, or the UN […] Liberal commentators in both the US and Europe have uniformly expressed deep regret at the loss of freedom of these countries but have observed that the US cannot be the world’s policeman..”

Sounds like hell, don’t it? Maybe that’s no coincidence since many that go in for this kind of rightwing evangelicalism appear to think Obama is the Devil, as prophesised by Revelations.

Stop sniggering - people actually believe this stuff! So it’s no leap of imagination to envisage Russia trying to regain its old Soviet empire, as an effete Barrack frets in front of the mirror...

It's a pretty sloppy description...I mean really, Focus On The Family also left out the well-known fact that Obama also likes to eat babies by candlelight sitting on the american flag, in front of a bronze bust of Marx, while having the Koran read out loud by William Ayers.

I can't believe they left that part out. What tools...

Ah c'mon. He just chews babies and spits them out!

But arses like Beakey lend toward the defeat of arses like McPalin.

God bless us all, each and every one.

Right and left wing caricatures aside, the election conversation in the USA has focused, in part, on the subject of Industrial Area Foundations, its political progeny, and the persona of Saul Alinsky. I assume Beatroot and you gentlemen know the political background here.

The question is, to what extent is this type of ideology compatible with freedom and democracy?

Faux Newz has focused on such subject matter, not the American populace at large who are more focused on economic issues. Alinsky is dead and so is the Republican Party.

Large parts of this empire is part of another empire by now. But of course Ukraine have great reason to hope for a strong US President and a less split European Union.

Not over here it hasn''t. In fact, it's remarkable how much the 'issues' have been kept out of the election. For instance, Palin is for less gun control and pro-life. But have you heard her talking about them? Ooo, nooo. These campaings have been about personalities, not policy.

maybe Europe has had enough of 'stirng'...they just want someone who they can trust not to go around makking trouble. And people want to like the US again. Great country, weird leadership.

Big Bad Tim and Beatroot:

National Review ran articles on Saul Alinsky, IAFs, and its numerous offspring, such as ACORN and Gamaliel Foundation. I agree with you that the populace at large has not focused on the various IAFs with sufficient intensity, or made the connection between them and left wing politics. But this is being remedied.

Some of us Catholics in the USA have been aware of the Gamaliel Foundation for some time, since this Foundation was designed to "embed" itself with individual parishes, and then do its work from the inside.

And yes, Saul Alinsky is dead, but his spirit is still with us. As far as the Republican Party being "dead", are you stating a fact, or is this a wish of yours?

I think Sarah Palin is rejuvenating for the GOP, the other side has nothing close to her. The contempt "mainstream media" shows towards her only confirms to many conservatives that she is the right choice.

Anonymous said...

Now you are tranforming Alinsky into a Christ-like figure.

The only thing Sarah Palin is rejuvenating is your dick.

I guess Bill Buckley's son didn't read those articles in National Review. He has endorsed Obama.

Mark - I noted sometime ago on this blog how liberals rushed out to dennounce Palin, not from a political point of view but a personal one, and that was puke making. Like she wasn't a good parent, etc.

And Palin does seem to have got the Base enthusiastic in a way that McCain could never do.

But Palin as VIP was always going to be a disaster and was a little demeaning of the post of vice president. She wasnt and isn''t qualified, period. It was a stunt to please the base. But she has takenb it seriously and now wants to run in 2012. I suggest that there is going to be all out war within the GOP after the election and Palin could well split the party right down the middle. Which will mean that Bush was the GOPs last president.

Well, Beatroot, the political left has a history of ridiculing right wing populists like Palin (which only makes them more popular with their base), writing right's obituaries, or at least gleefully predicting internal strife in the right's ranks. The right tries to reciprocate on occasion, but they are pitiful amateurs in this respect. I've been thru enough election cycles to notice the same script.

The mantra that she's not qualified for the president's office (that's the equation being made, I suppose due to her running mate's age) is easily countered by the right wing media with the same question for the left's presidential candidate. Once we get past the party slogans, the substantiation of such assertions becomes much more difficult. These assertions also ignore the question of latent political abilities plus time, which admittedly can work for both sides.

And Big, Bad, Tim, I don't want to ignore you:

As far as Alinsky is concerned, I was being charitable, All Souls Day is approaching you understand - but to say it more clearly, the spirit of his ideas is still haunting us.
And Sarah Palin, as you admitted, is no old tired political battle ax. Perhaps you're just jealous.

(Tim, Tim, Tim - I set out some red meat for you -rejuvenate - and you fell for it.)

But mark, she is not qualified for this kind of job. maybe in a few years...but you do have to be able to go on TV interviews and not have to look down at little bits of paper before giving answers on policy...and you should know what the Bush Doctine is (although surely Bush Doctrine is an oxymoron...or maybe just moron...who knows). Bush was said to not be qualified eight years ago and I think that has been proven...it's going to take a lot for the Republican party to get over what is seen by many on both sides and none to have been a disasterous presidency.

Palin was a stunt to wrong foot Obama...and it worked for a while. But it was always going to come back to bite McCain.... McCain has been living from day to day with no campaign plan...

McCain's campaign plan has pretty much echoed his life. Go figure. A hothead who wildly flails about. My guess is that he thought Palin would counteract his problems in terms of being a decent family man, after his history of womanizing, cheating on his ailing wife, calling his current wife a cunt in public, and perhaps smacking her around a bit from time to time. Good ol' Republican family values. But his hope that Sarah was plain and tall all backfired because he failed to vet her and her family. Her "Left Behind" brand of evangelicism. Her husband belonging to an Alaskan seccessionist party she supported by favorably addressing their convention. And I'l leave it at that. Kinda hard for folks to ignore all that and the other personal stuff when McPailin refuses to address any substantive economic issues in any detail.

And the silliness about Alinsky, Mark. Really. You believe in ghosts other than the Holy One? Isn't that counter to Church teaching? And I wouldn't fuck Sarah with your dick.

b.B - you see, you are sinking as low as Huffington etc...persoanl attacks. Would it not be a better idea to beat the republicans on policy and ideology issues?

This is why, even after 8 years of Bush, the Democrats are still worried about winning. I think that says as much about the Dems as it does about GOP.

Anonymous said...

I'm just trying to level the playing field. I don't think anybody has sunk as low as McPalin. I'll let Obama take the high road -- which he has done for the most part. You want a decent guy for president, then vote for Obama not me.

And I don't think there's anything wrong with the old adage "The personal is the political." I'll even agree with the Republicans who say that character is an issue even though they don't practice what they preach. McPalin has shown his/her character to be extremely hypocritical.

Democrats are worried about winning because of the realization that there are a lot of racist dingalings out there who would vote for anybody other than a black man or woman.

Well, let's hear the vox populi first and continue this discussion after Tuesday. Maybe Tim will be less excited by then, if O'Biden wins.

beatroot said...

The personal is the political.

But I dont think feminists meant the Personality is the political.

Anonymous said...

Vox populi? It's going to be close to 50-50 no matter what. The nation is divided. There is no one voice of the people in the US. It's just a battle for power with no clear cut hegemonic victor.

McCain calling his wife a cunt in front of other people is mighty personal and it reflects his personality and character.

You had better get a bible out buddy. Start reading and do your homework. Cross reference if you like. I think you will be amazed how the bible is 100% accurate. Obama is antichrist? Not a chance, but other events are unfolding as told in the bible. So be prepared because ever knee WILL bow before god.
